S/V NORTHABOUT makes tactical error that invalidates any Northwest Passage record - FAILS TO CROSS STARTING LINE

The S/V NORTHABOUT has failed to cross an Arctic Circle starting line to validate their Northwest Passage attempt. You cannot say you climbed Mount Everest by just reaching high camp - you must summit. Likewise, you must cross BOTH the Pacific Ocean Arctic Circle in Bering Strait and the Atlantic Ocean Arctic Circle in Davis Strait to validate a Northwest Passage. (Depends on direction of travel)

The rules are clear at: http://www.americanpolar.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/NWP-2015.pdf
