The two identical ships, which are being built in Norway’s Vard, will carry 240 passengers in 120 rooms and will be able to sail the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctica.
Hapag-Lloyd said one of the ships will be aimed at the German-speaking market while the other will focus on guests from the U.S., U.K., Belgium and Holland.
Hapag-Lloyd currently has two expedition ships in service, Hanseatic and Bremen.
